Associate Mergers & Acquisitions (m/f/d)

As an Associate Mergers & Acquisitions (m/f/d), you will support M&A transactions by actively participating in the entire process, from identifying potential acquisition targets to contract negotiations. You will conduct financial analyses, create valuation models (such as DCF and Multiples), and assist in the development of business cases and synergies. Additionally, you will coordinate due diligence reviews, analyse risks, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. You will create presentations and support the preparation of decision documents and transaction paperwork. Furthermore, you will research transaction opportunities, analyse market trends, and collaborate closely with various teams such as Legal, Tax, and Corporate Finance.

What you will do:

  • Support with M&A transactions: You will be actively involved in the entire M&A process, from identifying potential acquisition targets or buyers to due diligence, contract negotiation, and execution.
  • Financial analyses and company valuation: You will conduct detailed financial analyses, create valuation models (DCF, multiples, etc.), and assist in the development of business cases and constructive interaction potentials.
  • Due diligence: You will coordinate and document due diligence reviews, analyse financial, operational, and legal risks, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Preparation of presentations and reports: You will create presentations for internal and external stakeholders and help prepare decision papers and transaction documents.
  • Market research and deal sourcing: You will continuously research potential transaction opportunities and analyse market trends and competitive environments.
  • Collaboration with various teams: You will work closely with legal, tax, and corporate finance teams

What you will bring:

  • Completed graduate university degree (law, political science, economics) or comparable qualification
  • Distinguished expertise and demonstrated understanding of energy wholesale market design, regulation and policies in Germany and Europe, key regulatory bodies, directives, priorities, etc.
  • Distinguished expertise and demonstrated understanding of regulation and policies for energy in Europe, key requirements, deficiencies, uncertainties, and upcoming changes
  • Proven track record of interacting with energy policymakers, regulatory bodies and industry associations in Europe
  • Experience operating in similar roles in a business and commercial context within an established international organization
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to present complex issues concisely for relevant target groups, including senior management, external stakeholders, and public bodies
  • Experience and readiness to work in an international environment, including regular business travel between Brussels and London
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and arrange own work independently
  • Fluency in German and English and solid intercultural competence
